Ep. 334 Agroforest Systems Leader from Malawi - Tonthoza Uganja

Tonthoza is a Land restoration start-up founder and Social entrepreneur from Malwai, Africa. She currently lives in Whales where she is a PhD Student. An agroforest-systems leader in making mainstream smallholder farming systems more sustainable in Malawi, Africa. Tonthoza's background is in forest management, crop production, and community development which means she brings an exceptional set of perspectives to agriculture in the context of a changing climate. She is the Founder of Sustainable Farming Solutions Malawi, their mission is to empower farmers to restore and conserve their ecosystems.

Tonthoza Uganja is a highly experienced and skilled agro-systems professional.  Having dealt with small scale farmers for over 8 years under a private company she has honed her management skills and her people-centred approach. She is devoted to both the conservation and production schools of natural resources management. She believes in a gendered approach to development. She has an MSc in Tropical Forestry from Bangor University and is currently a fellow of the 3rd Cohort of African Women Entrepreneurship Cooperative (AWEC).
